Introduction to First Rathfriland Presbyterian Church

Welcome to First Rathfriland!

As part of our campaign to reach out during this Covid-19 Pandemic, we are putting in place a Blog space that will offer us and you another platform to communicate with each other. As we communicate we trust that we will all learn more about the Bible and that our faith may be deepened. Our aspiration is that this Blog will prove beneficial beyond Covid-19 Lockdown, so time will tell!

For those of you who know nothing about us, we are First Rathfriland Presbyterian Church in the town of Rathfriland near the Mourne Mountains in Co. Down, Northern Ireland. We are part of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland which has a tradition of Bible centred preaching.
The congregation of First Rathfriland has around 220 families connected to it which amounts to approximately 550 people. We have a wide range of organizations catering for people of all ages and leading them to saving faith in Christ and encourage them to grow as disciples of Jesus.
We would like to extend a welcome to our morning service by clicking on the link below.

If you can't join us in person you can get in contact with us through our social media platforms which include:First Rathfriland Facebook page, our website or Instagram

We seek to reach out to care for people, businesses, and our community in a variety of ways. We are connecting with a broad spectrum of people through targetted and niche activities and ministries. We have just introduced a new ministry aimed at the business community which takes the form of a weekly Bible Lunchtime Talk or Bible Study. We understand that our business community is going through a difficult time now and we want to offer any help we can.

As part of our annual Harvest Thanksgiving Services, there is a focus on our farming community as we connect with them through a Harvest Praise Night, Church Open Afternoon to view harvest decorations concluding with a Sunday morning and Sunday evening service. These services are the most attended in our church calendar.

Another of our ministries is our monthly Supper Club service which is geared towards families with young children. The service is on the second Sunday of the month at 5.30pm. The service has a family feel to it and geared towards teaching and encouraging the children. At 6.00pm the children leave the service to go to the church hall for their supper. The supper is served by some ladies in our church and the children have a quiz based on their Bible talk. During this time there is singing and a sermon for the adults.

We trust that we have given you a flavour of who we are and that you will want to engage or get involved with us. We look forward to meeting you and if you have any questions get in touch on trevorboyd@1strathfriland.co.uk
